Angeli Carriages, Austin, TX

        Angeli's Owner

Fiona Siciliani Fiona Siciliani

Riding from the age of five, I have been professionally driving horse drawn carriages since 2003. I began working in the service industry at the age of sixteen. But even before that I understood the value of a strong work ethic and a job well done. As the owner of Angeli Carriages of Austin, Texas I will put all my knowledge to work for you. I want your experience with Angeli to be so wonderful that you will ride with us again ... and bring your friends and family! We want your business for years to come.

Being the owner doesn't mean sitting behind a desk. I still enjoy driving. Every ride is different. Some passengers enjoy a guided tour, others want to chat between themselves.

A Little Ride Before Work

We sometimes ride our carriage horses. Usually it's on a day that we aren't driving, and with a saddle and riding bridle, but this day, we just hopped on and took a short ride around the property.

        Why the Name Angeli?

The name Angeli Carriages has a few contributing factors.

First, Angel is one of my nicknames.

Second, my father is Italian. (I would love to visit Italy.)

My favorite little cafe when I lived in New Orleans is named Angeli's on Decatur.

See Angeli's sign to the right --->

It's in a quieter part of the French Quarter, just blocks from where I lived in the Marigny.

When it came time to chose the perfect name for our company the name really chose us.

It couldn't feel closer to my heart.

Oh, and that explains the fleur de lis logo, too!

Five Generations with Horses

I think I'd love working with horses even if I hadn't been raised around them. This is a picture of my great-great-grandfather, John Fankhauser, who had a small farm and ranch in Kansas.

I have cousins in Kansas who are the fifth generation to farm and ranch this land. It's still small, still hard work for modest income, but I am proud of their dedication to this vanishing way of life.

Here is my great-grandfather, Rex Davis. He left his father's farm in Kansas to earn a degree in engineering, but worked plenty of cattle as a young man, and whenever he brought his young family home for a visit.

His career led to him to help open the first oil fields in the jungles of Venezuela. He returned to the U.S. when his oldest child (my Grandmother) was school age, as there were no schools in the jungle oil community. When he returned to the U.S., he was hired by an oil company drilling in Montana. As an engineer, he "logged" wells in -40 degree blizzards. Great-Gramps lived to the age of 95. I respected him, and he was a profound influence on my life. He was the quintessential kind, strong family patriarch.

Here is my Gran, Laura Davis. We are looking for a terrific 8x10 we have of my Gran on horseback as a teenager. Here is one of Gran as a youngster.

She was probably visiting family in Kansas, and looks pretty comfortable on that ranch horse.

In those days, nobody ever bothered to shorten the stirrups when the kids wanted to ride. You were lucky if they put a saddle on.
They just had to hang on!

I'll be adding a horse and rider photo of Mama in the future!
